snippets of indiana.
bill says that kelleyholmstrom.com is expiring, and we are not going to revive it. so. i guess i'll blog until the whole thing comes crashing down. i'm not kelley holmstrom anymore anyway. anyhow!
i have never sweat so much in my life.
my day is about 12 hours of sweaty. the morning? not so bad. but once you get to noon, or start moving around a lot, the sweat starts in.
surprising thing! sweat actually helps keep my bangs in place! and i thought that sweat was bad for bangs. not so.
our new house, which is nice and old (bringing with it the charm and challenges of old houses), has no air conditioning. but it has trees around it, which helps.
the low tonight is supposed to be 72. holy cow! this is not condusive to newlywed snuggling, let me tell you what.
and the bugs are loud.
right now i'm at soma, a hip coffeehouse where i feel a little at home. there's no music back in the "wi-fi-and-shut-up room." that's where you can hang out and do your homework and no one bothers you and you can wi-fi as long as you like, sucker! that's a nice thing about college towns. loitering and putzing around in coffeeshops is looked upon as normal and healthy.
and the coffee isn't bad.

bike brigade!
one thing i'll miss about portland, or, more accurately, my house in portland, is sitting out on the porch and watching/listening to people riding by on bikes. tall bikes, small bikes, bikes with trailers with babies or filled with strange construction materials. bikers on cell phones. groups of friends on bikes. bikes with loudspeakers and elaborate stereo systems. always, snippets of songs sung by solitary bikers. you only get a line or two, and then they're gone.
